Maryland Renaissance Festival 2008

Annapolis, MD. September 14 2008

This year marks the thirty-second year of the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Offering a weekend respite from the hustle and bustle of the Washington areas hectic lifestyle, The "Ren Fest" takes attendees back to a time of noblemen and merriment. Offering live themed entertainment, music, food and craftman the Reniassance Festival has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The Renaissance Festival is set in the village of "Revel Grove", a replica of sixteenth century Tudor England. The shops, street performers, food vendors and performance areas are all set in a wooded area that really imerses the event-goer, giving the feeling that you are truely visiting an English village hundreds of years ago. More than 140 craftspeople sell their wares at craft shops throughout the village. There are a large variety of goods available including jewlery, woodworking, leather work, glass works, pottery and more. The food is also plentiful and true to the era as well. Everything from turkey legs to 'knave sandwiches' can be purchased from the food shops and street vendors. For entertainment you can enjoy live period themed music, street performers, a large number of stage acts and childrens entertainment. The Renaissance Festival offers a truely unique experience where you can be taken back to a simpler, yet more regal time-well at least for the weekend. The Maryland Renaissance Festival is open weekends August 23-October 19. Please visit their website for speccific dates, times and special events.
